Recall issued for frozen dinners manufactured in Utah

A group of popular frozen meals made in Utah is the subject of a nationwide recall after several people found hard, blue plastic in their food. The three entrées are part of Nestlé's popular Lean Cuisine line and include the Chicken Mediterranean, the Chicken Tuscan and Pesto Chicken with Bow Tie Pasta.

The recall involves more than 1 million meals, and stores throughout the Wasatch Front are already pulling them from shelves.

The meals came from Nestlé Prepared Foods Company in Springville and were prepared from Aug. 18 through Oct. 27 of this year.

"A consumer could scratch the inside of their mouth or harm their throat when consuming their product," explained Amanda Eamich, spokeswoman for the U.S. Department of Agriculture's Food Safety and Inspection Service.

Roz O'Hearn, spokeswoman for Nestlé Prepared Foods Company, said, "If consumers find that they do have this product, they may return the product directly to their supermarket for a full refund."

The company says it has received a report of someone being injured by the plastic.
