Should Utah Pass a Cell Phone / Driving Law?

Numerous recent studies have addressed the dangers of driving and talking on the cell phone.  In addition, local Utah drivers have been charged with crimes for accidents caused by texting while driving.  Our attorney, Dustin Lance and our Salt Lake City, Utah, personal injury law firm has seen many accidents caused by this dangerous behavior.  Despite this, here in Utah, we don't have a statute that limits this conduct.  Is it time?  I would like to hear your opinions on this topic.  Submit your comment below.

 
Utah Legislature Votes Down Judge Hilder's Appointment

As a practicing attorney familiar with many of Utah's judges, including Judge Hilder, I have to say the the legislature made a huge mistake with this recent decision. Judge Hilder has one of the best judicial temperments I have ever seen and was eminently qualified for the position he sought.

Protection for School Bus Makers Over Children?

NHTSA, the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration, issued new rules this week that will improve the nation’s 474,000 school buses. Seat and shoulder belts will be required on small school buses. The requirement will also change seat backs making them four inches higher to 24 inches in all new buses.
